Mister Roger’s began each day at 5 a.m. with Bible reading, prayer, and a trip down to his local pool. Before diving into the pool, he would sing “Jubilate Deo, jubilate Deo, alleluia” which means; Rejoice in the Lord, Rejoice in the Lord, Alleluia.
For this Presbyterian pastor whose pulpit was a television screen and whose congregation were children, Mister Roger’s spoke truth in great love while dealing with very difficult topics such as divorce, racism, assignation, and forgiveness.
David speaks of the joy of forgiveness in Psalm 32:1 reminding us we have a clean slate with God. This verse in the Message version says; “Count yourself lucky, how happy you must be— you get a fresh start, your slate’s wiped clean.”
My prayer for us is to have a fresh start with God each day, utilizing scripture, prayer, and perhaps a trip down to our local pool.
Take care and have a blessed day.
🙏Prayers are with the family of Joanne Rogers who died on Thursday, January 14 at the age of 92. I am grateful for both Fred and Joanne Rogers this day.
