Hey there Friends, I am here at the Serenity Gardens in Waynesboro, a beautiful place to be.
I am enjoying a camel latte (my favorite) from Micah's which is a drive through coffee shop in our area that has two locations, one in Waynesboro and one in Stuarts Draft.
I have been reading through the book of Joshua this week and I have always been fascinated by his call story in Chapter 1. God reminds Joshua first that he is going to be with him just as he was with Moses. Second, to meditate on the law day and night. Lastly, to be strong and courageous for God is calling Joshua to lead the Israelites into the Promise Land, to conquer that land and then to divide the land among the twelve tribes.
Page after page there is battle after battle, but there is this constant refrain for Joshua in the text. God says; "Be Strong and Courageous, for the Lord your God is with you wherever you go."
I wonder during battles of your life, when you have depended upon that same refrain from God; "Be Strong and Courageous, for the Lord your God is with you wherever you go."
God has called Joshua to complete a bold mission that some scholars indicate this mission took twenty eight years to complete.
Reflect on the bold ways you have served God in the past and where you are discerning God is calling you to be strong and courageous in completing bold missions in the future.
When I was purchasing my coffee today, I asked the server; "I am leading this devotion about being strong and courageous today. I was wondering when was the last time you did something bold?
She responded through her cameo mask; "Well I joined the army! I just got back from book camp the other week."
May our answer have the same passion in our answer as she had.
My prayer for us this week is to be strong and courageous, to meditate on God's word and to know that God is with us wherever we may go.
Take care and have a blessed week.
